JOSEPH A. McCOY  

Joseph Andrew McCoy, of Silver Spring, MD and
formerly of Potomac, MD, passed peacefully on
Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the age of 92.

He was born November 30, 1924 in Washington,
DC. He graduated from both Holy Comforter
School and
Anacostia High School (1942)

Mr. McCoy served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a signalman on
numerous ships in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters.

He married June Delores McCoy (nee Welsh) on November 20, 1948. She
preceded him in death on September 15, 2015. They were married for 67 years.

Mr. McCoy retired from Bell Atlantic Telephone Company formerly the C&P
Telephone Company, after 43 years of service. He began his career as an
installer/repairman and worked his way up through the engineering department and
retired as a senior manager.

He is survived by two daughters, Linda Ballinger (Stephen) and Mary Beth Hincke
(John); five sons, Mark (Harriet), Matthew (Sandra), John (Leatha), Timothy (Sally)
and Kevin (Terry); 17 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, numerous nephews,
nieces and their children.

Joe was the family's last surviving member of the "Greatest Generation". His smile
and humor will be forever missed by all.

Friends may call for visitation at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Drive,
Gaithersburg, MD on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at DeVol on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 11 a.m. The
inturnments and service for both Joseph and June will be held at a later date at
Arlington National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Montgomery Hospice,
