Patricia Kavanagh Payne

Patricia Kavanagh Payne, 75, a volunteer with the Washington Junior League, Women's
Committee for the National Symphony, American Red Cross and other organizations, died of
congestive heart failure Nov. 8, 2000 at Potomac Hospital. She lived in Alexandria.

Mrs. Payne was a native of Washington and a graduate of
Wilson High School (1942) and
Vanderbilt University.

She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta social sorority, Phi Beta Kappa and the National
Society of Colonial Dames of America.

Her husband, Bruce R. Payne II, died in 1994.

Survivors include four daughters, Joyce P. Johnston of Manassas, Mary K. Frank of
Farmington, Maine, Patricia T. Groothousen of Virginia Beach and Elspeth B. Payne of
Alexandria; a brother, Preston Kavanagh Jr. of Gaithersburg; a sister, Joyce K. Wendt of
Frederick; and four grandchildren.
