John Kavookian, 92, of Falling Waters, WV, died on Thursday,
December 13, 2018 surrounded in love by his adoring family.

John, was born in Brockton, Mass on January 28, 1926 to the
late Harry and Ester Kavookian.

He is preceded in death by his beloved sisters Ann Kavookian and Agnes Salisbury.

John is survived by his wife of 30 years Eva June Kavookian.

John graduated from
Woodrow Wilson High School (1944) and immediately joined the
Army to fight in WWII. He served in Germany, France, Holland, and England. After the war he
went to the University of Maryland College, became a Real Estate Broker and started his own
firm, John J. Kavookian Co. where he worked until retirement to WV.

John was a bachelor until age 62 until he married Eva June and became the step-father and
grandfather of a combined family of nine children. The family grew to include spouses and
many great-grandchildren.

Sadly three of the adult children preceded him in death.

The saying, "A man never stands as tall as when he stoops to help a child", applies fully to
John. He was always there for the children helping them through the good and bad times in
their lives. He was the one everyone counted on. The love, respect, and admiration, from this
large family, is a testament to his character and the great love everyone felt for "Paw Paw"

He was a member of St. Mary Armenian Apostolic Church in Washington, DC, Knights of
Vartan Ani Lodge, American Legion #1, and Elks Lodge #15.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at St. Mary Armenian Church.

Interment will be held on a later date at Arlington Cemetery. A Celebration of his life will be
held later in January 2019.
