JEAN C. TRUITT (Age 93)  

Died peacefully on April 18, 2018 surrounded by her loving
family.

Jean was born in Falls Church, VA in 1925, grew up in
Washington, DC and graduated from
Woodrow Wilson
High School (1942).
She majored in Art at George
Washington University while also attending the Corcoran
School of Art.

Jean joined the art department of the Daily News, where she met her future husband, Del F.
Truitt, whom she married in 1949. She was a fashion illustrator for Lansburgs and Woodward
& Lothrop department stores. She left the workplace in 1952 upon the birth of her first child. In
1974, Jean returned to advertising at First Virginia Bank as a graphic designer where she
produced the corporate annual report, direct mail, newpaper, T.V. and outdoor advertising for
10 years.

A resident of the Brook Hills neighborhood in Annandale, VA since 1956, Jean spent her
retirement years enjoying her beloved family, dear friends and hobbies. She returned to oil
painting and sold successfully in a number of venues including county exhibits and the Mt.
Vernon Auction. She also enjoyed a very active social life that included her French, Opera and
Bridge Groups.

Jean is survived by a daughter, Susan Henderson of Fairfax, VA; a son, Steven Truitt (Alicia)
of Manassas, VA and four grandchildren, Gavin Henderson, Neal Henderson, Evan Truitt and
Elena Truitt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Del and daughter, Nancy.

A celebration of Jean's life will be held at her home at a later date in May followed by a private
memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to So Others Might
