Mrs. Elizabeth (Kelly) Tolton

STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Elizabeth Kelly Tolton, age 94,
passed away peacefully on April 13, 2017, at Ogeechee Area
Hospice in Statesboro, Ga. Daughter of John R. and Hester I.
Kelly, Elizabeth grew up in the Washington, D.C., area. She
graduated from
Wilson High School (1940) and attended
George Washington University.

Elizabeth was married to William Jones of Nantucket,
Massachusetts, who was killed in action during World War II. In 1946, she married Julius
Henry Tolton and they had a family of six children.

After living in Seattle, Washington, from 1946-1952, the family moved to Kensington,
Maryland, where she resided until 2015, then relocating to Willow Pond in Statesboro, Ga., to
be near family.

Elizabeth was a devoted member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Garrett Park, Maryland.

She spent many happy times in her beloved Nantucket home with family and friends.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Julius Henry Tolton; and her
son, James Kelly Tolton (Jeanne Marie Steinbauer).

She is survived by five children, Robert Tolton (Nancy Collier), Jane Tolton, Mary Howard
(Clifford Howard), Patricia Colson (Wayne Colson) and Christopher Tolton (Ellen Shebuski);
and six grandchildren, James Kelly Tolton II (Jennifer), Angela Suzanne Colson, Benjamin
Joseph Colson (Catherine), Christopher Ryan Howard (Molly), Kelly Marie Howard and
Megan Elizabeth Tolton. She was blessed to have seven beautiful great-grandchildren,
Caroline Tolton, James Tolton, Julia Tolton, Noah Howard, Idina Howard, Elliot Colson and
Thomas Colson.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Garrett Park,
Maryland.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O.
Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30459.
