Doris Mathieson Maloney, 88, of Marietta, GA passed away on January 3, 2019. Born on
June 16, 1930 in Washington, DC.
She was the daughter of Ruth and Samuel Streb.
Doris was married to Walter "Duke" Mathieson from December 1950 until his death in April
1988. She was married to Joseph Maloney from June 1990 until his death in October 2016.
She is survived by four children: Walt Mathieson (Gerry) of Peoria, AZ, Steve Mathieson of
Seminole, FL, Ruth Finnegan (Larry) of Powder Springs, GA and Evie Devine of Powder
Springs, GA; eight grandchildren: Carrie Sherreard, Michael Mathieson, Brian Mathieson,
Richard Mathieson, Ryan Finnegan, John Devine, Greg Finnegan and Andrea Devine; plus
two great grandchildren: Ben Mathieson and Annabelle Mathieson. She also leaves behind
step children Steve Maloney, Francie Reamer, Dan Kelleher and Barbara Maloney plus
several Maloney grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Doris grew up near Chevy Chase Circle in Washington, DC and attended Woodrow Wilson
High School (1947) and George Washington University.
She raised her family in Rockville, MD where she also spent several years working as a
secretary at Wood Jr. High School.
After her retirement, she resided in NC, MD and FL before moving to Marietta, GA to be
closer to her daughters. She enjoyed watching sports, playing golf, and traveling to every
continent on Earth.
A memorial service will be planned for the summer of 2019 in the Washington, DC area.
