Lloyd Vernon Hinton


1990s with Allied Realty in Bethesda, died June 6 at Montgomery Hospice’s
Casey House in Rockville. He had cancer.

The death was confirmed by a daughter, Rachel Hinton.

After an early career as a Navy aviator, Mr. Hinton worked with
organizations involved in managing airport noise in California, Connecticut
and Minnesota. He came to Washington in the mid-1970s as executive
director of the National Organization to Insure a Sound Controlled
Environment, an affiliate of the National League of Cities known as NOISE.
During the late 1970s, Mr. Hinton was a staff member on the House
Committee on Science and Technology.

Lloyd Vernon Hinton was born in Washington and graduated from
Woodrow Wilson High School in 1948.

He was a 1952 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill,
then served a decade on active duty with the Navy. He retired from the
Navy Reserve in 1975 at the rank of commander.

In 1992, he moved from Bethesda to Easton, Md. Since 2011, he had been
a resident of Ashton, in Montgomery County.

His first marriage, to Anne Hughes, ended in divorce.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Ruth Hance Hinton of Ashton; three
children from his first marriage, Emily Hinton of Reston, Will Hinton of
Kensington and Rachel Hinton of Mount Rainier; two brothers, Donald
Hinton of San Antonio and Albert Hinton of Potomac; and six grandchildren.
