william James Lally 1937 - 2017
Lally, William James passed away on May 18, 2017 with his
wife Kathryn and daughters, Dana and Michele at his side.
Bill was born June 9th, 1937, in Washington D.C., and the son
of the late Dr. Charles Anthony Lally and the late Mary Florence
Bill attended Western High School in Washington D.C., from
1951 to 1955. He played football and basketball throughout his high school years. Bill
attended American University in Washington D.C. from 1955 to 1959. He was vice
president and co-founder of American University Alumni Association, New York, New
Jersey and Connecticut Chapters. He earned his bachelor of arts degree in economics -
public relations in June, 1959.
Bill's first job out of college was with the 3-M Company, director of marketing and sales.
Bill continued his sales career working for the following companies: Bensen-Lehner,
Caelus Corp., Pertec Corp. and Photo Physics Inc.
Bill began his commercial real estate career in 1973 with Coldwell Banker, Santa Ana,
CA. He spent many happy years with Coldwell Banker and acquired lifetime friends.
In 1975, Bill met Kathy and they were married on December 23rd, 1977, in Newport
Beach, CA. This year would have marked their 40th wedding anniversary, to which Bill
was truly looking forward.
Bill and Kathy moved to the Big Island of Hawaii in 1995. They co-founded and opened
Keoki's Place, a beautiful flower and gift shop in Kona. When the business flourished and
was providing up to 20 weddings a week for the Watabe Wedding Service, they decided
to sell the business and enjoy their beautiful Hawaii.
It didn't take long for Bill to grow restless, so he returned to his passion of commercial real
estate, joining C.B. Richard Ellis. Bill specialized in large oceanfront parcels on the Big
In 2005, Bill finally retired, and they returned to the mainland, settling in Henderson, NV.
Then, deciding to move closer to family and friends, Bill and Kathy returned to Orange
County in 2011.
Bill is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughters, Dana Lally and Michele Lally; sons, Steve
Lally and Billy Lally; stepson, David Reinhart; 10 grandchildren; and his brother, Charles
"Buddy" Lally Jr., who lives in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife, Alita.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 9th at St. Kilian Catholic Church, Mission Viejo,
CA at 10:30 a.m.
