Ruth Virginia Snead (July 5, 1920 - August 28, 2013)

R. Virginia Snead R. Virginia Snead, 93, of Augusta County, died on Wednesday,
August 28, 2013, at Augusta Health, Fishersville.

She was born on July 5, 1920, in Pensacola, Florida, daughter of Thomas Rodney,
USMC, and Wave McKenzie Shearer.

Virginia attended Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the
Ruth Circle. A graduate of
Western High School (1938) in Washington, D.C., she
attended Madison College (James Madison University), worked 10 years at the World
Bank in Washington, and did 13 years of volunteer work with the Pink Ladies in Ormond
Beach, Florida.

She loved her unique and gifted neighbors and caregivers at the Stuarts Draft
Retirement Community, where a memorial gathering will be held at the Meadows at 11
a.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2013.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lieteuant Colonel Morris Snead, USMC;
son, Bruce; sisters, Betty Lewis and Mariana Hopkins; and brother, Thomas Shearer.

Surviving are three children and their spouses, Dale and Al Boxley, Thomas, USMC, and
Ann Snead, and Ric and Meg Snead; brother, Bob Shearer and wife, Minerva; sister,
Georgia Weiss; seven grandchildren, Carol Crosslin, Ginny Lummus, Loren Boxley,
Kendra Robb, Price Boxley, Liam and Mac Snead; seven great-grandchildren, Morgan
and Rawley Crosslin, Audrey, Madison, and Reganne Roach, Sydney and Calvin Robb;
nieces and nephews.

Services will be conducted at Arlington National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may
be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
