ROBERT BERNSTEIN (Age 98)

Robert Bernstein, a native Washingtonian, died February 2, 2016, of respiratory heart
failure.

His quick wit, warmth and gentle nature endeared him to family and friends and finally his
caregivers.

He grew up in Cleveland Park and attended
Western High School (1935) and
graduated from George Washington University.

He served in the Army Air Corp from 1942-1946 before passing the CPA exams and
helping build a local firm launched by his father (Oscar J. Bernstein). Following a merger,
he became a senior partner and regional manager with Seidman and Seidman (now
BDO).

In retirement, he left Chevy Chase for Marathon and then Naples Florida where he
pursued his love of fishing and the marine environment. He enjoyed tutoring young
students, supporting charities and the Democratic Party and completing challenging
crossword puzzles.

His beloved wife Jeanette (Abram) Bernstein died in 1984.

He is survived by three children, Robert Bernstein (Barbara), Roger Bernstein (Frances),
Anne Bernstein (Donna Keiths), 10 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
