Harold Brandenburg
1927 - 2018

Harold T. "Brandy" Brandenburg, age 91, of Leesburg, FL
passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at his home in
Lake Port Square Retirement Community where he had lived
for approximately 12 years.

Mr. Brandenburg was born in Washington, D.C. on February
12, 1927. He grew up in Brookmont, MD and was a
graduate of McKinley Tech High School,
Washington, D.C.

He enlisted in the US Army where he served 20 years,
retiring as a Master Sergeant E-8. MSG Brandenburg served during both WWII and the Korean
War. He served as an M-4 Sherman Tank gunner during WWII and in combat with the 7th
Infantry Division in Korea, where he was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge (CIB) and Bronze
Star. He was also the recipient of the Army Commendation Medal, WWII Victory Medal,
Korean Service Medal, and U.N. Service Medal along with numerous other awards and

He moved to The Villages in Florida in 1995 where golf and the weather were the attraction.
Recently a favorite destination was the "Kountry Kitchen" restaurant in Leesburg, where he was
a "regularly attending non-member".

Brandy's work history began at the age of 13 as a golf caddy, then on to "soda jerk" and during
high school he worked for the Federal Housing Administration. Upon graduating, he enlisted in
the U.S. Army and served from 1945-65. His postings included Ft. Knox, Trieste, Italy, Walter
Reed Army Medical Center, Poitiers, France and the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology.
After retiring from the Army, Brandy continued to work at AFIP and later retired from TRIMIS.

Brandy was a life member of Grand Lodge F.A.A.M. of the District of Columbia. Washington
Daylight Lodge #14, as a 3rd degree Mason.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Gussie Arnold Brandenburg, and his second wife
Jayne Arnold Brandenburg, his brother James William Brandenburg III, his father, James
William Brandenburg, and his mother Leilah Thames Brandenburg.

He is survived by his daughter, Diana Brandenburg Werner and her husband, Dave of West
Grove, PA; son Harold "Hal" Brandenburg and his wife Sheila of BelAir, MD; step daughter
Doretta Profeta of Castleton, VA. And 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 1pm.

Flowers are always appropriate however memorial donations may be made to the Employee
Fund at Lake Port Square Retirement Community, 800 Lake Port Square, Leesburg, FL
34748 in recognition of the caring staff.
