Charles B. Veitenthal (Age 86)
Charlie, of Ashburn, Virginia, at home on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2018, passed away
holding the hand of the love of his life Barbara of 67 years, with daughters Carol and Dawn, and
friends surrounding him with love.
Beloved Wife of Barbara Lee; devoted Father of Dawn (Rich) and Carol (Jacques); devoted
grandfather of Richie and Christina; dear uncle of Nancy Marmaras (Peter) Ed Veitenthal, Ann
Boteler (Donald) and a host of other adoring family, friends and caregivers.
Charlie was born at Sibley Hospital on November 17, 1931 and raised a proud Washingtonian.
At age 14, Charlie was proudly the youngest member of the Washington Redskins Marching
Charlie met Barbara Lee Swann in high school at McKinley Tech in DC in 1950. They
married on June 30, 1951 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, DC. Charlie enlisted in the
Army during the Korean War and sent to Germany with the 66 Engineering Topo Division.
He lived in Northern Virginia, raised a wonderful family, and retired from a career at the CIA.
Charlie had an infectious laugh and a zest for life. He loved to spend time with his many lifelong
friends. He will be very much missed by Barbara, his daughters', family and friends.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday February 20 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to
8 p.m. at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, 9902 Braddock Road, Fairfax, VA.
Charlie's life will be celebrated at a funeral service at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 10550
Georgetown Pike, Great Falls, VA on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at 11 a.m.
Interment will be held Thursday February 22, 2018 11:30 a.m. at Fairfax Memorial Funeral
