Virginia DeAtley Woolard O'Brien

Virginia W. O'Brien, 95, who retired in 1980 as a research associate from
Kiplinger, a publisher of business news, died of respiratory failure July 16 at
Montgomery General Hospital in Olney.

In 1943, Mrs. O'Brien started her career at Kiplinger in the correspondence
department. She later was a sales associate before working in the editorial
department. She took a hiatus from the company from 1952 to 1962 to work in
Washington for the now-defunct Boyce Morgan Associates, which published
business handbooks. From 1933 to 1943, she was a claims representative at
Acacia Mutual Life Insurance.

Virginia DeAtley Woolard, a native Washingtonian, was a 1933 graduate of
McKinley Technical High School.

She was a resident of the Leisure World retirement community in Silver Spring.
She was a member of the interfaith chapel at Leisure World.

Her husband of 55 years, William B. O'Brien, died in 1995.

She had no immediate family survivors.
