Robert Edward Sibley

Of Brevard, NC died Thursday, December 2, 2010 following a lengthy illness. He
will be remembered as a loving husband and father who is now singing praises to
his Lord Jesus.

He was born in Washington, DC on October 27, 1931 to the late Howard Edward
and Mary Eugenia Wohlfarth Sibley. He is a descendant of William J. Sibley who
provided funds for the construction of the original Sibley Hospital on N. Capitol
St. in 1895.

He graduated from
Tech High School and American University. He served in the
U.S. Navy as a dental technician on the USS Boxer during the Korean War and
was employed in the printing industry of Washington for many years. He served
as an elder at Riverdale Presbyterian Church, College Park, MD, and the Old
Presbyterian Meeting House in Alexandria, VA.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty McCall Sibley, a daughter; Susan
Savell and husband H. Dean of Knoxville, TN, a son Scott Edward Sibley and
wife Rebecca of Dalton, GA, six grandchildren; Zachary, Samuel and Robert
Savell, and Blakley, Thomas, and William Sibley and an aunt, Dorothy Reed
Wohlfarth of Pompano Beach, FL.

A memorial service will be held, 3 p.m., Saturday, December 11, 2010 at
Cornerstone Presbyterian Church with Dr. Andrew Silman officiating. The family
will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will
follow at a later date in Rock Creek Cemetery in Washington, DC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Missions at Cornerstone
Presbyterian Church, 645 Bert Lane Road, Brevard, NC 28712.
