Robert Frederick Gibbs
Robert Frederick Gibbs passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, Feb. 13,
2013, surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born on Nov. 7, 1935, in Washington, D.C. He attended St. Ann's Elementary
St. John's College High School (1954) in Washington, D.C., and Villanova
University in Pennsylvania. He earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Villanova in
1958. In 1967 he received his master's in business administration from George Washington

After graduation from Villanova, Bob enlisted in the Army and attended the Army Language
School in Monterey, Calif., studying Korean.

Bob began his business career as a contract specialist for NASA Goddard and the U.S.
Navy, as well as his experience with the Department of Energy. He also contributed 16
years as chief financial officer, and CEO with Computer Entry Systems Corp. Until
retirement in 2008, Bob enjoyed his work as a senior contract specialist with HUD in
Washington, D.C.

Bob was a member of The General Society of the War of 1812, The Nicholas Gibbs
Historical Society, St. Mary's Catholic Church and the University Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and W. Frank Gibbs; a brother, W.
Frank Gibbs II; one sister, Marie Gibbs Brennan Bergmark; and a cherished infant
granddaughter, Grace Marie Gibbs.

Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Susan McCollum Gibbs; his dear, loving
children, Sandra Gibbs Brooks (Lance) of Moorestown, N.J., Kathleen Gibbs Majeski (John)
and Frederick "Bob" Gibbs (Lynda), all of South Riding; 10 dear grandchildren, Rosemary
Brooks, Abigail Brooks, Emily Brooks, Megan Brooks, Caroline Majeski, Julia Majeski,
Kathryn Gibbs, Christopher Gibbs, Michael Gibbs and Patrick Gibbs. He is also survived by
many faithful and loving nieces and nephews.

Bob loved his immediate and extended family deeply; his many loyal friends, both old and
new; and had a special affection for his devoted cocker spaniel friends, Molly and Georgia.

The family will receive friends and family from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at DeVol
Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, Md. A Mass of Christian burial will
be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Parish, 9200 Kentsdale Drive, Potomac, Md.,
at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Ave., Silver
Spring, Md., followed by a reception at Manor Country Club, 14901 Carrolton Road,
Rockville, Md.
