Patricia E. Curro February 15, 1930 – March 15, 2021
Patricia “Patsy” Ellen Curro, born February 15, 1930 in Washington, DC, passed away peacefully at her home with her loving husband Tommy Curro and her children by her side on March 15, 2021. She was 91 years old.
Patsy was the only child of Bridget “Bea” Ellen O’Connor Dorsey. Her father, Linwood Bradfield, died before she was born. She had a happy childhood in Washington, DC and was close with her aunts and uncles. She met her husband, Tommy, when she was 14, as he was serving daily newspapers to her neighborhood. Patsy attended St. Cecilia’s High School (1948) in Washington, DC. Patsy and Tommy wed on October 23, 1949 in Washington, DC. Four children were born from their blessed union – Ellen, Mickey, Nan and Susie. They lived in Chillum, MD and attended St. John Baptist de la Salle Catholic Church.
Patsy and Tommy worked together to build a thriving family business – Tom Curro Lincoln Mercury in Laurel, MD. They built their home in Burtonsville in 1972 and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. Patsy was known for her genuine kindness and love towards others and her unforgettable, contagious laugh. Her hobbies included bowling, going to Delta Bingo, visiting the Laurel Racetrack and Maryland Live slot machines and Three-Card Poker. Patsy was dedicated to her community – often assisting with school and church activities and neighborhood events. She was known for her famous Sunday night dinners and giving excellent advice to family and friends. She was the matriarch of the Curro family, and she will be greatly missed.
Patsy is survived by her husband Tommy Curro, her children Ellen Curro, Mickey Curro, Nan Broullire and Sue Fosbrook, as well as her six grandchildren: Bridget, Tom, Carly, Mike, Joe, and Christy. She also was very proud of her five great-grandchildren: Sophie, JP, Luke, Roselyn and Carson.
Deceased relatives of Patsy include Bridget Dorsey, Linwood Bradfield, Louise O’Connor, Mick O’Connor, James O’Connor, Carol O’Connor, Catherine O’Connor, Jimmy Trail, Paul Curro, Nancy Curro McCarthy, Nina Curro Fleri, and J. Mark Broullire.
A viewing is scheduled for Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Resurrection (3315 Greencastle Road, Burtonsville, MD 20866) immediately followed by a Catholic Mass of Celebration at 11 a.m. COVID-19 protocols will be followed.
