Greenbackville VA—Thomas Aquinas Fortwengler, 80, of
Greenbackville, VA and formerly of Upper Marlboro, MD, died on
Monday, May 27, 2013, at Coastal Hospice by the Lake in
Born March 7, 1933 in Washington, DC, he was a son of the late
Victor Fortwengler and the late Agnes Driscoll Fortwengler.
A graduate of St. Anthony's high school (1951), Mr.
Fortwengler attended the University of Maryland and retired as a
Vice President of Ward Component Systems. He was an avid
Redskins fan and was a member of the Brookland Club. He was also a member of the Holy
Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Pocomoke City.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Judith V. Fortwengler, three
children, Dana Fortwengler, Amy Sidorovich (Walter) and Thomas A.
Fortwengler, Jr.; three grandchildren, Eva, Maya and Anna Sidorovich; and one
brother, Victor Fortwengler (Catherine).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Richard
Fortwengler and one sister, Mary Cruze.
A Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Rev. William J. Porter, will be held
at 11AM, Friday, May 31 at the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Market
St., Pocomoke City, MD. A graveside service will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday,
June 1, 2013 at St. Mary's Cemetery, West Street, Annapolis, MD
