William Francis Hibbs  1930 - 2017

GRASONVILLE -William Francis Hibbs of Grasonville,
MD, died on November 30, 2017.

Bill was born on Oct. 4, 1930, in Washington, D.C. His
family lived in both the District, where he was an
All-High basketball player for
Roosevelt High School
(1948),
and in St. Mary's County, where he developed
a love of the water.

Upon graduating from high school, he worked for the
Department of State. For 60 years, he was married
to Shirley Stewart Hibbs, who died in October of last
year.

He retired and spent the last part of his life looking out at the waters of the Chesapeake
Bay. In his final days, Bill was a daily communicant.

He will be interred next to his wife at St. Peter's cemetery in Queenstown, following a funeral
Mass at St. Christopher's Church in Chester, MD, on Wednesday, December 6 at 1 p.m.

Bill's children: Tom (Stacey); Mike (Sandra); Elizabeth (Tom) Bazel; as well as his
grandchildren: Lauren, Dan and Sara Hibbs; Michael and Cecelia Bazel; and Jake, Will,
Kendall and Ben Hibbs survive him.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to St. Christopher's
