MELANIE KATE WOMACK  

Passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018.

She was born on April 24, 1949, to James and Laura Womack in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
She graduated from
Roosevelt High School in Washington, DC in 1967 where she
was a member of the Senior Service Corps, as well as the Chemistry, German and Latin
Clubs. In 1971 she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from West Virginia
State College.

Melanie worked for the US Department of Housing and Urban Development as a Social
Service Representative for seventeen years. She then worked as a Program Analyst with
the DC Department of Human Services, for nine years. Melanie also worked at the
Kenwood Animal Hospital as a receptionist and for ABC news as a message board
moderator.

Mel was predeceased by her mother, Laura Bigger Womack. Her father, James Womack
died on July 1, 2018.

Mel leaves behind a half-brother, Lonnie Branch, her Aunt Annie Wilkins and Aunt Elnora
Womack Rickman, a host of cousins, her best friend Juana Hawkins and many other loved
ones.

Memorial Services will be held for Melanie Kate Womack on Saturday, August 11 at Mt.
Zion Baptist Church, 5101 - 14th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20011 at 11 a.m.
