Martha L. Jackson, 93, of Palmyra, Mich., joined her beloved husband in heaven on March
24, 2017, following a lengthy illness.
Martha was born in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 24, 1923. She was the daughter of George
M. Jackson and Maud Waddell Jackson. She grew up in Washington, D.C., and had many
great memories of her life there. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1942
and immediately went to work for the U.S. government.
On May 12, 1945, she married the love of her life, Frederick Herald Jackson, in Hamline
Methodist Church. Her husband was in the Marines at Quantico, Va. Their marriage was
blessed with three children, Frederick Jr., Marlene and Mary Ellen.
In 1946, the family moved to Palmyra, Mich., and lived with Fred's parents, Frederick Sr.
and Ethlyn Moore Jackson. Fred Sr. and Ethlyn welcomed this unknown daughter-in-law
and infant grandson into their home and hearts. Martha adjusted quickly to village life and
became a great supporter of this community. She was a life member of Eastern Star. She
twice served as Worthy Matron and was Counselor for the Grand Chapter. She was the
longest attending member of the Palmyra Community Presbyterian Church. She worked for
many years at Tecumseh Products prior to her retirement.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; son, Fred Jr.; parents; and
parents-in-law. Also preceding her in death were her two brothers, George M. Jackson and
John Waddell Jackson; and three sisters-in-law, Vivian Jackson, Imogene Jackson and

Presbyterian Church on April 15, 2017. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the
church, service beginning at 11 a.m.

Lenawee, 1903 Wolf Creek Highway, Adrian, Mich., or to Palmyra Community
Presbyterian Church, 6370 Palmyra Road, Palmyra, Mich.
The family extends special thanks to Hospice of Lenawee and the many friends who helped
care for Martha.
