Mrs. Ruckert was born in Washington, the daughter of Eva and Alten Armistead and a
descendant of the Armisteads of Virginia. She was the granddaughter of sea captain Harry
Armistead of New Point, Va., from whom she inherited a love of theChesapeake Bay and
sailing.

She graduated from
Roosevelt High School (1948) and the University of Maryland, where
she was a member of Alpha Zeta Delta sorority.

Mrs. Ruckert collected more than 100 antique dolls and was a 40-year member of the
Dollology Club of Washington, D.C. She also collected and decorated with antique fabrics.
As a member of the Potomac Chrysanthemum Society, she loved growing a variety of
flowers and herbs at her summer home at the Willows community in Calvert County. In
addition to antiques, her interests included Shetland sheepdogs.

Her marriage to Melvin Wright ended in divorce.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, James A. Ruckert of Silver Spring; a son from
her first marriage, Jon Wright of Washington; a son from her second marriage, Robert D.
Ruckert of the Willows; and a granddaughter.
