1940 - 2017
Let's hoist a stein and toast a life well lived. Joseph "Jay"
Zegowitz, 77, passed away on October 25th, 2017 in
Cape Coral, FL, only one day after giving a final single-
fingered salute to cancer.
Jay was born in Wash., DC, April 12th, 1940, where
he graduated from Gonzaga High School (1958) and where he receive his mechanical
engineering degree from Catholic University.
In that same year, he was wed to Dianne (Marino) Zegowitz, a marriage that lasted 54
years, and produced three sons, Joseph, John, and James.
Jay enjoyed coaching his boys in basketball and baseball, and teaching them the
mysteries of cars and motorcycles. He loved his beer almost as much as his trips and
adventures large and small with Dianne. He tried enjoying the Washington Redskins once
in a while - although that has been more difficult in recent years.
Jay is survived by his wife Dianne T. Zegowitz, his sons, John Zegowitz and James
Zegowitz and his daughter in law Jacqueline Zegowitz, his five grandchildren - Abigail,
Milo, Jacob, Maggie, and Mathew, his brother Vincent Zegowitz and wife Marianne, his
sister Mary Gualt and husband Pete, his brother Stephen Zegowitz and wife Laurie, and
many other extended family members and friends from Maryland to Massachusetts to
Jay is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Winola Zegowitz, and his first son,
Joseph Zegowitz III.
A celebration of life and those who live it will follow, and invitations will be sent. His family to
thank all of those who celebrate the life of Jay.
