FRANCIS A. GRIFFIN, JR. "Frank"  (Age 83)  

Of Dunnellen, Florida, passed away peacefully at his
home surrounded and supported by his partner and
children on Thursday, August 2, 2012.

He was born on September 17, 1928, in Washington,
DC; the son of Francis and Beatrice (Oden) Griffin.
He grew up in Washington, D.C. and graduated
from
Gonzaga High School (1947) prior to enlisting
in the U. S. Navy; serving on active duty from 1950
1954.

Following his military service, Frank worked for forty-five years as an electrician in
the capital region, and was proud a s proud member of the International
Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 26, for sixty-five years.

He was predeceased in 2001 by his wife of forty-five years, Mary Lee Allgire Griffin.
Frank is survived by his partner of eleven years Betty Dangar, of Ocala,Florida; his
sister, Shirley (Robert) Hill, of Owings, Maryland; three daughters, Carol (Edward)
Kertz, of Naples, Florida; Brenda (John McGuire, of Shushan, New York and
Deborah (Patrick) Kellaher, of Waldorf, Maryland; his son,

Francis "Buzzy" (Patricia) Griffin III, of Hughesville, Maryland, as well as thirteen
grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Frank had a life long love of sports and was an accomplished baseball, basketball
and tennis player. In retirement, his combined athleticism and gregarious nature led
him to excel in the area of ballroom dance.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Marion County (West) Florida
and the American Cancer Society . Friends are invited to a memorial ceremony in
celebration of Frank's life on Saturday, September 15, 2012, at 11 a.m., at the
Benedict Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, 18210 Hyatt Ave.,
Benedict, MD.
