Eleanora Marie Galasso

Eleanora Marie Galasso, "Nora", 87, died September 1 at
Providence Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born May 11, 1923, in Washing ton, D.C., to the late
Salvatore and Gioina Galasso, and graduated from
Eastern High
School (1941).

Nora was employed as an executive secretary for various local
organizations, including the Chamber of Commerce, Merrick Boys Camp, and Getty
Oil Company. In retirement, she worked for George Washington University as a Sr.
Financial Assistant.

In 2007, Nora graduated from the Senior Citizens Police Academy and became a
member of the Office of Risk Management (ORM) at the Metropolitan Police Dept. Her
administrative talents and dedication earned her the Chief of Police Special Award for
Senior Citizen Volunteer of the Year.

She was a member of Saint John Baptist De La Salle Church. For over 30 years, Nora
held numerous Executive Board positions for the Prince George's County Ladies of
Charity and the XI Delta Chapter of the Beta Sigma PI Sorority.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe and Mario Galasso.

She is survived by her brother, Gene Galasso of Crofton; four nephews, Mark Galasso
of Los Angeles, Calif., Eric and Margaret Galasso of Crofton, Tripoli Galasso of
Sarasota, Fla., and Michael and Dana Galasso of Mansfield, Texas; and four
great-nieces and nephews, Joey and Emma Galasso of Los Angeles, Calif. and Meg
and Max Galasso of Crofton.

The family will be greeting friends at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 25 at Saint John
Baptist De La Salle Church, 5706 Sargent Road, Chillum, MD 20782. Mass will begin
at 11 a.m., followed by a light lunch.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Prince George's County
Ladies of Charity, 9110 7th Street, Lanham, MD 20706, attn: Deborah Self.
