Daniel Bright Monk

Daniel Bright Monk, of Culpeper Garden in Arlington,
VA, born June 10, 1935 in Washington, DC, passed
away on April 6, 2017 at the Virginia Medical Canter.

He graduated from
Eastern High School, 1954,
where he ran track. Was in the US Marines for two
years in the 1950s and was a bell captain at the
Marriott Hotel for several years in the 50s and 60s.

Mr. Monk lived in the Maywood area of Arlington for
more than 45 years. His parents were the late Daniel
R. Monk and Elsie M. Monk.

He is survived by his sister, Nancy Monk Black (Dwight) of Longwood, FL; brothers,
Donald M. Monk (Annette) of Silver Spring, MD, Dr. Richard C. Monk of Towson, MD;
daughters, Robin Thomas (Dan) of Germatown, MD; Kim Monk Penrod of Sterling
Heights, MI; sons, Mark Conklin, of Hong Kong and Scott Conklin of Vera Beach, FL;
and numerous grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his 20 year companion, Lucy McGovern.

Viewing will be 11:30 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11 at
Cherrydale United Methodist Church, 3701 Lorcorm Lane, Arlington, VA, Rev.

Elizabeth Foss of Cherrydale Methodist Church will be officiating.

Interment at a later date at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD.
