Muriel Connaughton Moore, 97, an Alexandra homemaker and hospital volunteer, died Feb. 24 of pneumonia at her home in
Kilmarnock, Va., where she had been living since 2005.
Mrs. Moore, who was known as Connie, was born in Kingman, Kan., and moved with her family to the District in the mid-1920s.
She graduated from Central High School in Washington and from Lynchburg College, in 1931.
She moved to Alexandria after marrying Kenneth H. Moore, an executive for many years with Capitol Cadillac, one of the first auto
dealerships in the Washington area.
Mrs. Moore had been a member since 1950 of Alexandria's Trinity Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many
years, and she had served as president of the Alexandria Hospital Board of Lady Managers. She did volunteer work for a
number of charitable organizations.
Her husband died in 1962.
Survivors include two children, Nancy Moore Kiser of Wicomico Church, Va., and Richard H. Moore of Incline Village, Nev.; a
brother; five grandchildren; and four great-grandsons
