Mrs. Mildred Wylie, 86, of Florence, passed away Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at
her residence surrounded by her loving family.
There will be no formal visitation. A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m.
today, Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, in Greenview Memorial Park, with Mark
Mildred was a graduate of Central High School, class of 1943, and a
member of College View Church of Christ. After graduation, she was one of
12 selected to work with the Federal Civil Service in Washington, D.C. She
was very proud of this accomplishment. Preparing meals for her family was
always a joy for Mildred.
Mrs. Wylie was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years and her high
school sweetheart, Adrian W. Wylie, with whom, in her remaining days, she
longed to be reunited; her parents, James W. and Annie Olive Winter; six
sisters; and seven brothers.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda McCorkle Boatright and husband,
Douglas Boatright, Florence, Ala.; grandson, William "Bill" McCorkle,
Sheffield, Ala.; and special friend, Susan Telck.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Winter, Ronnie Clanton, Bobby Moore, Thomas
Spence, Sterling Moore and Dennis Morgan.
Honorary pallbearers will be deacons and elders at College View Church of
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mrs. Wylie's name to the
Coalition of Alzheimer's and Related Disorders of Northwest Alabama, P.O.
Box 1608, Florence, AL 35631-1608, or the charity of one's choice .
The family wishes to especially thank Thomas Spence, of Amedisys Hospice
of Florence, for all his advice and expertise in getting all the care for Mildred.
Special thanks also to Claudia and Christy, of Amedisys Hospice of Florence.
Mildred was the apple of Adrian's eye and he would tell her every day how
much he loved her.
