            HARRY M. PEDEN

On Saturday, November 6, 2010 of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband
for 66 years to Martha A. Peden; devoted father of Robert J. (Karen),
Michael L. (Ela), John C. (Paula), Mark D. and Heath A. Peden, and Diane
P. (Aubrey) Herndon; grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of three.

Born in Washington, DC on November 15, 1921, youngest of seven
children of Hugh G. Peden and Sarah (Hennig) Peden, he grew up in the
District and was educated in the public school system graduating from
Central High School in 1940.

Harry joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 1943 and served in the Pacific theater
during WW II. He was honorably discharged in 1945 and returned to study
at Catholic University. He graduated in 1948 with a mechanical engineering
degree and went to work as a Naval Architect for the Department of the
Navy where he assisted in the design, development, and construction of
several classes of naval war ships. After working at the Navy's Bureau of
Ships until his retirement in 1979, he then devoted his time to family,
coaching and golf.

Harry was a member of Argyle Country Club since 1957, a loyal Redskins
season ticket holder since 1945, and a devout follower of the Terps. He
loved sports and competition and fought hard against the many health
problems he encountered in his last few years. Harry was a cancer survivor
and he never gave up. Services were previously held.
