Audrey Rout Nicholson

Audrey Rout Nicholson, 93, an artist and teacher who was active in several organizations, died of a stroke Sept. 10 at her home
in Rockville.
Mrs. Nicholson taught English and geography at Alice Deal and Gordon junior high schools in Washington from 1934 to 1946.
She painted American primitives,   which were exhibited at the Sulgrave Club.
She served on a women's board of Columbia Hospital and was active in the Perennial Garden Club and the National Society of
Arts and Letters. She also belonged to Kappa Delta Pi, an honorary education society.
She was a member of the Chevy Chase Club, the Sulgrave Club and the Delray Beach Club of Florida.
Mrs. Nicholson was a third-generation Washingtonian and a graduate of the old Central High School. She was an honors
graduate of Wilson Teachers College in 1933 and did graduate work in education at George Washington University. She was a
former resident of Chevy Chase.
Her husband, Jesse Frank Nicholson, whom she married in 1939, died in January.
She leaves no immediate survivors.
