MARY LOUIS SCHEWE
Mary Louis Schewe, a Washington, DC native died November 14, 2014 at her home at
Atlantic Shores in Virginia Beach, VA. She was 93 years old.
Mrs. Schewe was born in 1921 to Mary S. and Perley J. Moore. She graduated from old
Central High School (1939) and worked during the war as a medical secretary at
George Washington University Medical School.
She was preceded in death by her husband William John Schewe, Sr., MD in 2009 after
63 years of marriage and by her two sisters, Elizabeth Proctor and Margaret
Mrs. Schewe is survived by her two sons, William John (Regina) Schewe, Jr. and
Christopher Paul Schewe, two grandchildren, Sarah Schewe Valverde and William John
Schewe III, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Schewe lived most of her life in Northern Virginia, until Dr. Schewe's retirement in
1984, when they moved to Virginia Beach.
She was an avid gardener, an accomplished artist, and a proud member of the DAR. She
truly loved the ocean.
Mrs. Schewe's remains will be laid to rest next to her husband Bill at Arlington National
Cemetery on Monday, March 9, 2015 at 1 p.m.
