Doris Mae Napoli, Rockville volunteer

Doris Mae Napoli, a Rockville homemaker and a volunteer at the Rockville
Senior Center, died Jan. 22 at her home in Rockville. She was 92.

The cause was cancer, her daughter Lisa M. Napoli said.

Doris Mae Waters was born in Morgantown, W.Va., and raised in
Washington, where she graduated from the old
Central High School in
1940.

She was a cryptographer with the War Department before joining the
Marine Corps in 1944. After the war, she was a civilian clerk-typist for the
Marines, then a correspondence secretary for the Kiplinger business and
finance agency. She left in 1949 to marry.

Her husband, Joseph I. Napoli, died in 2005.

Survivors include three children, Brad Napoli of Urbana, Md., Margo Cook
of Brookeville, Md., and Lisa M. Napoli of Grasonville, Md.; three
grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
