Clifton Dallas Shannon Jr.
Clifton (Cliff) Dallas Shannon, Jr., of Severna Park, MD
passed on September 24th, 2017 at the age of 89.
He was born in Washington, DC, where he graduated
from Central High school in 1946.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and beloved
wife of almost 70 years, Jacqueline D. Shannon (nee)
Dunmyre, of East Brady, PA. He is also survived by his
son and daughter-in law George M. & Karen A.
Shannon; daughter & son in law Kathleen S. & Jeff D.
Gentry (deceased). Grand- children: Michael E. Shannon (deceased) & wife Jennifer,
Eric S. Shannon & wife Colleen, Shawn K. Shannon & wife Lora, Erin M. Shannon
(deceased) and Shannon D. Gentry. By Great-grandchildren: Ashleigh M. Shannon;
Connor M. Shannon, Ella K. Shannon, Ethan M. Shannon, Cade N. Shannon and Reid D.
Cliff was in the meat business for over 45 years, first as a salesman for Armour &
Company and then as the Head Meat Buyer for Giant Food for over 25 years. He was
active as a coach in the Rockville Boys Baseball Association and with the Rockville
Optimist football program. He was the first Commissioner of the Boys Rockville Football
He was an avid outdoorsman including: golfing, fishing, hunting and Boy Scout
leadership. After retirement from Giant Food he became a much-recognized volunteer
for the Anne Arundel County Police Force Northern District garnering awards from the
"Chief of Police" and governor Paris Glendenning.
He and his wife were accomplished gourmet cooks and wine aficionado's.
Friends may visit on Saturday September 30, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Barranco
& Sons, P.A Severna Park Funeral Home 495 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Hospice of the
Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Hwy., Pasadena, MD 21122.
