Freia Kahle Kershow

Freia Kahle Kershow of Grasonville, MD, died
Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Compass Regional
Hospice Center in Centreville, MD. She was 87.

Born on March 4, 1931 in Washington, D.C., Freia was
the daughter of the late Kurt Otto and Frieda Hansen
Kahle. She graduated from
Calvin Coolidge High
in the class of 1949, and on December 7,
1950, she married Warren Williamson Kershow of
Washington, D.C.

She worked as a medical secretary at the Walter Reed Army Hospital.

She raised her family in the Annapolis area, and worked part time for the Maryland
General Assembly, and would later work full time as an Administrative Assistant to the
Academic Dean at the Naval Academy in Annapolis until she retired in 1985.

Mrs. Kershow was a member of the Adult Day Care Foundation of Queen Anne's
County, co-founder of the Prospect Bay Garden Club, past president of the Ladies
9-hole Golf and a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church where she sang in
the choir. Prior to that she sang at St. Martin's Lutheran Church choir in Annapolis
from 1965-1986. Choir singing for her started at the Lutheran Church of the
reformation, Washington, DC at the age of 9 years. Love for family, friends, church,
music, gardening and travel filled her life.

Mrs. Kershow is survived by her husband, Warren W. Kershow, two sons, Kurt Warren
(Dena Hixon) Kershow of Tacoma Park, MD and Scott Salisbury (Kim) Kershow of
Centreville; daughter Diane Kershow (Andrew) Hanlon of Chester; and four
grandchildren, Dorothy Russo & Marshall Hanlon, Madeleine & Clara Kershow.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by daughter Kathryn Louise
Kershow, and two sisters, Frieda Wilkerson and Kathe Barber. All services will be
