Frederick Arthur Oehm passed away peacefully on January 8 at Good Samaritan
Hospital, San Jose after a brief illness.

Born in Washington D.C., Fred was the son of Frederick and Olga Oehm. He
attended area schools and graduated from
Coolidge High School in 1946. Upon
graduation, Fred enlisted in the U.S. Army and was directed to the Air Corps (soon to
become the U.S. Air Force) as a Radio Mechanic; he was assigned to occupied
Japan during this period. Upon returning to the D.C. area after his honorable
discharge, Fred was hired by IBM as a field service engineer, beginning a 37-year

During his almost 9 decades, much of that living in the Almaden Valley, Fred was
actively involved in the community. He served as a volunteer for various activities in
his neighborhood of Crossgates, and as a founding member and Charter President
of the Fire Associates of Santa Clara Valley, a volunteer fire-fighter support group that
exists to this day.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Claire Oehm of San Jose; a daughter, Dorothy
Fair and her husband Robert, of San Jose; a daughter, Susan Bianchi and her
husband, Paul, of Danville; and five grandchildren, Robert and Colton Fair and Olivia,
Jack and Nico Bianchi.

Private interment at Los Gatos Memorial Park.
