Robert Alonzo Ryon, of Lynn Burke Road, Monrovia
MD, died on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the
Gettysburg Hospital in Pennsylvania.

Robert Ryon, also known as Lonnie to family, was
born on July 4, 1935 in Washington DC, a son of the
late Robert and Mary Steinmeier-Ryon. He retired
from the Pan American Health Organization. He is a
graduate from the University of Maryland and was a
member of the Damascus Road Community Church
in Mt Airy, Maryland. Bob graduated with a Bachelor
in Fine Arts degree and continued his love of art
throughout his life. He was adept at anything that
involved using his hands, not only in art, but also as
a skilled marksman and hunter. He was awarded
many trophies in marksmanship in the junior division
of the 800 Club. His family will carry on his legacy,
including his love of gardening, as evidenced by the
Eden he created around his own home. He loved life
and nature and was known for his generosity and
wonderful sense of humor.

Robert's family would like to thank Dr. Jerome Putnam
for taking care of his health for over thirty years, and
the many friends who provided love and support.

He is survived by Ligia, his loving wife of thirty-five
years; his sister Jane Ryon; six children: Craig,
Mark, Sherry, Bart, Lyssette and Lisbeth; nineteen grandchildren; and nine
great-grandchildren.

Robert Ryon is preceded in death by three grandsons: Bobby, Mark and Matthew
Ryon.

A viewing will take place at the Damascus Road Community Church, Damascus
Road Community Church, 12826 Old National Pike, Mt. Airy, MD, on Saturday,
January 31 from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the church
following the viewing.

Robert will be buried at the Bush Creek Church of the Brethren in Monrovia, MD. A
reception will be offered immediately after his burial.
