Frances Jeannette Loehoefer Fitzgerald

Frances Jeannette Fitzgerald, 89, of Salisbury, died Tuesday, October
4, 2011 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. Born in &
Elizabeth Jones Loehoefer.

She graduated in 1940 from
Anacostia High School where she won a
scholarship to the National Art School (Corcoran School of Art). While
attending school, she was also employed by the Army Corps of
Engineers during the construction of Washington National Airport.
Upon completion of the airport in 1942 she transferred with the Corps
to the War Department.

After marriage and three children, she returned to the business world as
a legal secretary in various law firms concluding with 20 years at the
law firm of Clayton L. Burwell in Washington, DC. She retired to the
Eastern Shore in Salisbury, MD.

Jeannette was an accomplished artist and devoted her retirement years
to her art. She had many friends. She was a member of the Wicomico
Presbyterian Church, The Art Institute and Gallery, Attic Artists, Happy
Timers, and the IRP. Before retiring to the Eastern Shore to be near her
family, she was active in many organizations; she is a past president of
the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 9619 in Morningside, MD, where she
was a member for 56 years. She also served as president of the
Women's Aviation Club in Washington, DC, president of the Southern
Maryland Art League in Clinton, MD and president of Chi Sigma
Sorority, Zeta Chapter. She is survived by her children and their
spouses: Patricia and Kenneth, Daniel and Susan and Kevin and Wendy
and their families; her grandchildren: Bart, Fawn, Evan and Christian
and her great-grandchildren: Katelin, Alissa, Julie, Sascha Dove and
Nora Lark.

She will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery with her husband,
Wilfred (Woody) Fitzgerald, who preceded her in death on March 9,
1966.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, October 8, 2011 at
Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. Friends may call Friday from 5 to
8 pm and Saturday one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Dr. Donald
M. Rising will officiate.

Committal services will be held at the Post Chapel in Arlington National
Cemetery in Arlington, VA on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 1 p.m.
