Donald was born in Washington, DC, and graduated from Anacostia High School
in 1949, a 3rd generation native of that city. He lived in and near DC most of his life,
until moving to Texas with Carol to be near his eldest son Frank.
Don grew up in Washington, DC and joined the Navy during the Korean war. Once
discharged, he went to school to learn Mechanical Drawing. This led to his joining
the Department of Defense, working at the Naval Oceanograhic office and then

Don loved Carol, his kids, traveling, amateur photography, golf, the Washington
Redskins, the Washington Senators (later the Nationals), and Washington Capitals.
He also loved bird hunting, going regularly to Maryland's Eastern Shore for goose
hunting outings. With his wife Carol, he traveled to many states, and in the late '70's
took his family to visit Europe and his son Frank who was stationed in Germany.
While there, they visited Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin, Munich, and Vienna. Later, Don
accompanied Carol on a genealogy trip to Scotland and Ireland. They also went on
an Alaskan cruise together.
During his school time, Don met his lifelong friend Manny Mayobre. Both being
interested in the American Civil war, they traveled to many of the important
battlefields. They also styled themselves "Stan and Ollie", and every Christmas
would exchange the same desk calendar as a gag gift. Mr. Mayobre entered Heaven
before Don, but now, Stan and Ollie are together again.
Carol preceded Don in passing, and he is survived by his son Donald Frank Proctor,
and daughter Christina Walrath.
Services will be held at The National Cemetary, Dallas, TX on Wednesday, March
