Alice Louise Kotalik

Myrtle Beach, SC  September 2, 2017.

Born February 22, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Franklin Clarence Johnson
and Alice Yeager Johnson.

Alice graduated from
Anacostia High School in Washington, D.C. in June 1946.
In a time when few women were seeking careers, she noted in her yearbook her
desire to be a professional accountant. In pursuit of that goal, she graduated from
the McCann School of Business, Hazelton, PA in June 1947 and shortly afterwards
was hired by C&P Telephone Company as an auditor. She retired after a 37-year
career as a manager of the Revenue and Auditing division for C&P Telephone
Company. She was a proud member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and
served as treasurer of the Myrtle Beach chapter for over 20 years.

Alice's love of golf led her to many vacations in Myrtle Beach. Upon retirement, she
moved to Myrtle Beach fulfilling her love of the sport. She was a member of
Myrtlewood Golf Club, where she was part of the Ladies Golf Association and
served as treasurer for many years.

Alice had an adventurous spirit and passion for traveling the world. She visited all
corners of the globe: riding an elephant in Thailand, a rickshaw in China, riverboats
in Europe, and visited castles and monuments in Scotland, England, Ireland,
Germany, Russia and Scandinavia. As an octogenarian she tried snowmobiling and
ice fishing in northern Minnesota and loved it!

She was a member of Socastee United Methodist Church, where she served on
numerous mission trips to the Caribbean Islands, played hand bells, and
volunteered with Meals on Wheels and Street Reach.

Alice's great sense of humor and compassion will be missed by her family and

She was the dearly beloved aunt of Douglas Johnson (Jean) and Nancy Magoon
(Bill). She greatly loved her 8 great nieces and nephews and their spouses; her
memory will live on in the hearts of her 18 great great nieces and nephews, for
whom she crafted exquisite cross stitch Christmas stockings.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 4, 2017, at
Socastee United Methodist Church.
